Yeah sorry for being so late with this, but believe me, the fact that there isn't one of these journals for August now hurts my OCD more than it hurts you. ;w; If you watch me closely, you know what I've been busy with.

On a completely different note, do you know that feeling when you love something so so SO much and then you remember it isn't real and every cubic inch of your body and soul fills with the melancholy and sadness of the whole universe and you feel like you're physically drowning, but whenever you turn to that object of affection it makes you happy again?
This is why artists and writers and actors and everyone who assists them will be important until the end of time.

Okay, after we all pulled through a minor existential crisis, I am glad to inform you that not all of today's Nuzlocke picks are something you'll wish to be real (though your mileage may vary and I'm not entitled to judge your sanity xD), but all of them are really really good reads.

The Times We Shared: Introduction by such-a-wally

This. This is the most adorable Nuzlocke (or maybe even the most adorable thing on the whole world) you will ever read. This adorableness can not only be attributed to our 13-year-old heroine, the happy and not-so-happy Pokémon and the beautiful art style, but most of all to the feeling that will overrun you. Reading this comic feels exactly like playing Pokémon for the first time. Because no detail of the beginning of the Kanto games is left out and each of them is handled with so much love and care and without a trace of the cynicism that all us veterans usually treat the beginning of a Pokémon game with. I find this so remarkable that I could talk about it for hours. ouo
But maybe you should just go and read the comic.
I also have nothing more to say because it didn't get past Viridian Forest yet, but there's definitely enough of it already to make you fall in love.

'Bad Apples' by mewstein

Today is contrast day, apparently, so let's talk about this one next.
Nero, the slightly mentally unstable Snivy, is on a crusade to end the 'humans' reign of terror' over the Pokémon. He ... convinces other Pokémon to be his allies in ... various ways, and they leave a trail of death and destruction on their way through Unova. Not only is this setting a creative way to handle the main theme of the Gen V games and play with moral grays in general, but it's also super rad and fun. If you like inventive murders and clusters of 'Oh crap!' moments, this Nuzlocke is the right one for you.
Another cool thing about it is the Sourlocke ruleset that increases the difficulty by banning cute looking Pokémon and Pokémon with friendly personalities. Doesn't sound so handicapping, does it? But you will see that it can indeed have drastic effects...

'KANTO: Once Man Fell' by AnthemSmiles

KANTO: Once Man Fell... [1-3] by AnthemSmiles

Welcome to a world in which mankind suddenly went extinct many years ago and only Pokémon remain. Most of them adapted to this new world order by establishing their own civilization or lack thereof in the territories in which they were left behind. But one Bulbasaur sets out to find a way to ressurect man, and his childhood friend Bay the Squirtle follows him to prevent that from happening.
Who of them is right? Did the end of mankind mean the beginning of an era of chaos and decay or of freedom? Of course you can already guess that there is no right answer and that this story is grim and bloody and raw and full of fantastic characters and some excellent black humor, and then you are painfully reminded that those fantastic characters can die at any moment.
After a few pages, colors appear on the scene, and not even this can make the world feel any brighter. You will not regret this intense reading experience.

'Marche's Blaze Black Nuzlocke Adventure' by Marche-Towers

Marche's Blaze Black Nuzlocke Adventure Cover by Marche-Towers

Pokémon Blaze Black is one of the hardest-yet-still-borderline-reasonable games in the history of hacks. It's such a delight that one person feels up to the challenge to make a comic about this madness, don't you agree?
Our hero ScarfBoy Marche is cheerful, caring and talented at giving motivational speeches, and he knows that he's awesome. If there is a character who can keep his sanity on a journey through this version of Unova, it's definitely him! Come along and watch how he builds an unusual team (there are many more different Pokémon than in original Black) and fights the most epic battles. Seriously, the battles are my favourite part, they are always exciting and full of twists.
... Who am I kidding, of course Marche's scarf is everyone's favourite part. :3
